Hey,
I have been looking at your mods and they look interesting, but I have one main question.
Does the modern mod suffer from the same stack bug that the vanilla game does?
Also on the same note, is there anything that can be changed anywhere to help with this problem?
Thanks!

Hey, I have been looking at your mods and they look interesting, but I have one main question. Does the modern mod suffer from the same stack bug that the vanilla game does? Also on the same note, is there anything that can be changed anywhere to help with this problem? Thanks! The destack bug is due to the current pathing and stacking AI code with merchant marines. While I've done a number of things that help reduce the chances of it popping up, it still can and will pop up from time to time. The only scenario I can honestly say it wouldn't be a problem in is the "State of the Unions" mod which was designed specifically to avoid all the major things that can cause slowdowns. Reduced number of nations, lack of alliances etc. The destack issue is part of the reason The next release version of the modern world mod won't be out til after Update 3 is released. (but I continue to do changes and release new beta versions which you can get from the Beta thread in this forum) I spent a ton of time trying to find a work around and short of drastically changing the mod to the anti-thesis of my intentions There was very little I could do. So rather than bang my head against the wall I did what I could and said F it til update 3, and started concentrating on other aspects of the mod. Art assets etc. Just an FYI only the UI changes are carried over to the default campaign. This isn't like other games where mods totally change the default game. 90% of my changes only apply to the modern world scenario.

Thanks for the fast reply and the info!
Any idea on when the next update might come out?
I'll give your mod a try and see what I think, it looks pretty cool. But I want desperately to like this game but at the moment I'm at like 20 second days which makes an 80 day building project take like a half hour and thats just mind numbing lol.

But I want desperately to like this game but at the moment I'm at like 20 second days which makes an 80 day building project take like a half hour and thats just mind numbing lol. Well 20 second days isn't really outside the norm depending on whats going on in the world.. Wars etc. The destack bug tends to cause a lot more slowdown than that. If 20 second days is too long for you then its possible you're not going to be happy with this game regardless of whats done with it. Its not a fast paced RTS. There are many things to keep you busy, Diplomacy, trading etc. If all you're doing is setting stuff up to build and then sitting around you're really ignoring the vast majority of the game. While scenarios with less units, countries etc will run faster.. (like the state of unions scenario for example) The modern world mod is actually the opposite in that it has more units/ countries etc than the default cold war scenario so you're not likely to see faster days using it. The major difference though is that the majority of countries are far more built up and there is more even smaller countries can to do in comparison with the cold war scenario, where many small countries can do nothing but build up for the first few years. As to update 3 I'm clueless as everyone else to when its coming. I honestly expected it by now but I'm not that surprised that its not out. The biggest issues are pathfinding issues and if you have any experience in game design you know that path finding (in this case pathfinding + dealing with stack limits = trying to destack) aren't exactly the easiest of things to get working properly. Chances are as soon as George fixes one behavior it causes another negative behavior which he has to try to fix without causing yet another one.
